Entry visa and/or residence permit

The University of Twente guarantees to offer all first-year students needing an entry visa and/or residence permit timely, appropriate and affordable furnished housing for up to 1 year.

Procedures & deadlines

Students who need an entry visa and/or residence permit and have completed both their visa application and their application for housing before 1 December (start 1 February) or before  July (start 1 September), will be given priority. Accommodation for student applying after 1 December/1 July will be allocated on a first come-first served basis.

During the admission process for studying at the University of Twente, you will receive an Offer of Admission. Once you have filled in the Offer of Admission, you will receive an e-mail containing a hyperlink to register for a housing offer from our housing department.

You are free to decline this offer. If you decline the offer, the UT will assist you in finding accommodation by providing you with our overview on which several external parties in the region are listed that offer housing.

No entry visa and/or residence permit needed

If you are:

  • an (international) student who does not need an entry visa and/or residence permit, or
  • a second or third year student,

the UT will assist you in finding accommodation by providing you with our overview on which several external parties in the region are listed that offer housing.

Please note that the housing department of the University of Twente does not offer you a room, when you don’t require an entry visa and/or residence permit.

The city of Enschede – which is very popular amongst students – has a competitive housing market. We strongly recommend you to inform yourself about the Dutch housing market for students, and to start your search for a room in time.
