Electric Superbike Twente ready for the racing season with new electric motorcycle

The Eclipse-gp, Electric Superbike Twente's second and newest electric racing motorcycle, was presented at the Kinepolis in Enschede. The team has put it into action, alongside last year's Liion-gp, for the 2019 racing season. With these two electric superbikes, Electric Superbike Twente doubles its chances of winning in the open eSBK championship.

Since September, the electric racing team from Twente has focused all their energy on the design, construction, and development of the new bike. After a dream season in 2018, in which Electric Superbike Twente took home the European title in their first year competing, there's a lot of pressure to be first across the finish line this year too. However, that hasn't affected the team's confidence. "We are, of course, aware of the specifications of last year's champion motorcycle. That's why we're almost certain the Eclipse-gp will be able to clock a faster time on the circuit. As a team, we're going for the one-two with this year's superbike at the highest level", says Julian Hamar de la Brethonière, Electric Superbike Twente 2019's team manager.

Rider Jorn Hamberg

New motorcycle - new rider! This year, Electric Superbike Twente will compete under number 95, assigned to rider Jorn Hamberg. Hamberg, from Drenthe, who has already demonstrated his talents in the ONK SuperCup 600 class of the OW Cup, was ready to try something new. "I'm delighted to have this opportunity with Electric Superbike Twente. It's already known that I plan to stop racing at ONK level due to a change in circumstances. Fortunately, this opportunity will allow me to develop further, and I'm very curious about the new Electric Superbike! Electric racing is probably the future, and who knows, I might already have a good head start.”

The new motorcycle was on display at the Kinepolis in Enschede on May 24, when the cinema opened its doors to host the unveiling. Guests were able to catch a first glimpse of the Eclipse-gp before it starts racing on 17th and 18th August during the Gamma Racing Days in Assen.
