"Shared decision-making in healthcare" means making choices about your health together with your healthcare provider. Unfortunately, this is not yet standard practice. In this study, we want to understand the preferences of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) when it comes to shared decision-making in healthcare.
What are we working on?
Research has shown that healthcare providers and patients do not always make decisions together. This can lead to misunderstandings during conversations, as well as poorly informed and ultimately dissatisfied patients. To prevent this in the future, we are investigating whether we can make shared decision-making in healthcare more personalized. We are doing this by exploring whether there are different groups of people with COPD who have similar preferences for shared decision-making and information provision. To this end, we are looking for people with COPD who are willing to complete a questionnaire.
Wat vragen we van jou?
- In this questionnaire, we ask about your preferences before, during, and after a conversation with your healthcare provider. We are also interested in how you prefer to receive information—whether through a conversation or perhaps via text. Finally, the questionnaire ends with some questions about your age, gender, and, for example, your experience with technology.
- We need this information to determine if we can link certain preferences to specific characteristics, such as age. The more people with COPD who complete the questionnaire, the more accurately we can assess whether certain preferences are associated with particular characteristics.
Who can join and when?
You can participate in this study if:
- You have COPD
- You are 40 years old or older
- You can read and write in Dutch
The questionnaire can be completed once until April 2024.
Extra information
We will raffle four gift vouchers among the participants who complete the questionnaire in full. If you would like to participate in the raffle, you can leave your email address after the last question. This will not be linked to your answers.
