Thermal Engineering (TE) research group

The research in the Thermal Engineering (TE) group is concerned with questions related to industrial applications of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat and mass transport. Using a combined approach of theoretical analysis, numerical calculations and experimental investigations, the department aims to develop new or advanced knowledge for application in industrial design. Priority is given to the efficient use of energy and the minimization of the environmental impact of our future energy systems.

who-is-who

The TE research group is chaired by prof. dr. ir. Gerrit Brem. For an overview of the complete scientific staff, post docs, PhD, PdENG students and supporting staff click on the link below.

de vlam

De Vlam ('The Flame') is a group of TE students and researchers who organize  extracurricular activities for the whole research group, such as excursions to companies in the field of thermal engineering or fun activities as paintball, BBQ or bowling etc. Our soccer-team 'de Vlam' joins each year the UT futsal (indoor) competition as well.  For photo's, videos and other inside information about the research group see our ThW-Wiki (only for members, login required)

Facilities

The experimental research activities of the Thermal Engineering research group are located in the Kleinhorst Laboratory. This page shows a list of equipment and experimental setups present in the lab. For large computations and to speed up the calculation process, members of the TE research group have the possibility to use a computer cluster with 18 nodes. Specifications of the cluster can be found on the simulations and software page.
