Description

Additive manufacturing (AM) provides freedom of design that was unknown before. It allows to produce large variety of part shapes for different industries. It is especially powerful tool when it is combined topology optimization (TO). TO is design technique that searches for structures optimum performance regarding design constraints. It results in complex 3d geometries that are inefficient and often impossible to produce with production technologies different than AM.

The aim of this project is to produce numerical methods that will allow fast and accurate calculations of additive manufacturing processes. Methods provided in this research will be next used in topology optimization. By combining them it is intended to obtain efficient tool that will allow to search for optimal design with constraints on manufacturing limitation like part distortion and residual stresses introduced into the product during production
