Lecture LUTI

Prof Nelson of the University of Sao Paulo will be visiting us for one day, and we took the opportunity to have him as a guest lecturer for the LUTI (Land Use and Transport Interaction) course on 4 May 2023 10:45-12:30 in HR-C101.

The content of the lecture will be based on a LUTI study done in Brazil. The summary is:

Structural accessibility in the city of São Carlos, SP, Brazil

A structural accessibility map is a comparative geographical representation of transport mode accessibility levels for different types of opportunities. The tool, which is based on the integration of transportation systems and land use, was validated in an application in the city of Porto, Portugal. The proposal of the present work is to use the method in question to analyze the accessibility levels of the city of São Carlos, Brazil. For this, census data and results of an origin and destination survey were used. Thus, this work shows that the structural accessibility map is a resource that assists decision-making when planning urban transport, as can be observed in the case study made for the city of São Carlos. Also, the application shows the feasibility of using the Portuguese method in the context considered.
