Kick-off Conference on Water Infrastructure and Governance (WiRGo)
On Monday, June 2, our colleagues from Auburn University (Alabama, US) arrived for our jointly organized conference on Water Infrastructure and Governance. For many of us, it was great to see our colleagues again since their last visit in October 2023, and for even more colleagues it was the first time meeting each other.
We have a full program for the coming days, where the mornings are filled with paper sessions to discuss the latest research from both the Auburn and the UT side. The more practice-oriented activities are scheduled in the afternoons. The international symposium on dealing with drought & water scarcity takes place on Tuesday afternoon, and on Wednesday we will visit the Pathmos region in Enschede, which was severely damaged by climate-induced floods last summer. On Thursday, we will visit the UT.Fieldlab and we’ll join the climate café. The conference ends on Friday with a visit to our colleagues from the University of Osnabrück!
We are very happy to welcome our colleagues from the US in these changing times, in which mutual research on, for example, climate change and resilience is needed more than ever, while it’s also challenged more than ever. We are looking forward to a fruitful week, with lots of informal, practice-oriented and scientific talks and discussions. Let’s move forward!
On behalf of the Auburn – UT delegation,
