Last month, the PhD students from the Biomedical Device Design and Production group took part in the TechMed Research Day – an event organized by the TechMed Centre for researchers and staff at the University of Twente working within the TechMed domain. It proved to be an inspiring day for both PhD students and senior researchers in our group, full of networking, knowledge sharing and insights in the interesting research conducted at the University of Twente.
This day also included a recognition for our PhD student, Hein Lucassen, who received an award for his oral presentation entitled “Identification of functional upper extremity phases in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)”. This study contributes to the development of assistive devices tailored to the needs of individuals diagnosed with ALS. Hein is conducting his doctoral research at Assistive Innovations, under the supervision of Dr. Erik Prinsen (Roessingh Research and Development, UT), Dr.-Ing Malte Asseln (UT) and Prof. dr. ir. Gabriëlle Tuijthof (UT).
We are already looking forward to the TechMed Research Day 2026!
