Project duration: Jan 2021 - Jan 2025

MEGAMIND

Measuring, Gathering, Mining and Integrating Data for Self-management in the Edge of the Electricity System

Project summary:

As a result of the energy transition, our electricity system is undergoing considerable changes.

The demand for electricity is increasing due, amongst other things, to the growth in the number of heat pumps and electric cars and buses. At the same time, the supply is becoming more erratic due to a growing proportion of sustainable electricity generated from the wind and sun. Distribution network managers and market parties are searching for possibilities to prevent overloading the network and smartly match supply and demand. The MEGAMIND programme brings together knowledge about energy systems, artificial intelligence and regulation to develop both the required technology and the appropriate legislation. The researchers want to be able to predict when problems will occur. To avoid these situations, they will subsequently allow the devices that consume energy to collaborate directly with devices that produce energy.
