Reducing services of the Service Desks Langezijds and Ravelijn Starting 1 September 2024

As you may have read in the email of 17 July regarding UT's financial challenges from the Executive Board,  several direct measures have been decided upon to yield immediate effect so that UT can remain financially healthy. For Campus and Facility Management (CFM), the decision to reduce the employment of student on-call workers significantly has substantial consequences. We frequently employ students to staff the Service Desks in buildings outside regular office hours. A significant reduction in this workforce has impacted our Service Desk operations drastically. 

Given the rapid developments regarding UT’s financial situation and the subsequent budget cuts that we as a service need to implement, we are unfortunately compelled to reduce the services of the Service Desk Langezijds en Ravelijn as of 1 September 2024. In this message, we will inform you about what this means and what changes will occur.

Practical building-related matters

  • Langezijds

    Staffing of Service Desk Langezijds
    On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00, the Service Desk will be staffed to answer any questions.

    Reporting complaints, disruptions, or technical problems
    If you wish to report complaints, disruptions, or technical problems, please send an email to servicedesk-langezijds@utwente.nl. Additionally, our Internal Service staff members will remain on site in the Langezijds building for building-related matters, such as mail and internal moves.

    Lecture halls and meeting rooms
    All lecture halls will remain open, meeting rooms will remain accessible as usual with the employee pass.

    Opening hours
    The main entrance will remain open on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00. The building is accessible outside office hours and with your employee card or student card.

  • Ravelijn

    Staffing of Service Desk Ravelijn
    On Monday and Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00, the Service Desk will be staffed to answer any questions.

    If you wish to report complaints, disruptions, or technical problems, please send an email to servicedesk-ravelijn@utwente.nl. Additionally, our Internal Service staff members will remain on site in the Ravelijn building for building-related matters, such as mail and internal moves.

    Opening hours
    The main entrance will remain open on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.

    The following tasks will be carried out by the Service Desk of Carré:

    • Issuing keys for, among other things, the lactation room and to contractors, students, and study associations;
    • The collection of lost and found items.

Evaluation

We will evaluate the abovementioned changes in December 2024; after that, we will inform you about the outcome.
