On November 22, the second edition of the 'Beta in Governance and Policy' career day for PhD, postdoc and master students with a STEM background connected to Dutch universities and research institutes will take place. Are you interested in attending the career day? You can register until Oct. 16 (limited number of tickets available). The day will take place at the KNAW Trippenhuis in Amsterdam.
Young bèta students interested in politics, governance and policy are welcome to have the opportunity to get in touch with the field: to learn from people who have chosen to work in governance and policy. What was their motivation, what are important competencies you need for that kind of job and what are examples of career opportunities in the sector. Besides (very) renowned bèta's (e.g. Eppo Bruins, Marjolein Lauwen, etc.) who are now working for the public sector, several early/mid career speakers also talk about their lives and careers. This year there is also an EU track, featuring bèta professionals working in European governance and policy (language of communication in this track is English). There will also be a networking reception with some booths where organizations can present themselves. For more information about the career day, see here.
BIBB
BiBB (Beta in Governance & Policy) is a non-profit initiative founded from the Dutch Physics Council. The goal is to bring bèta's (incl. technicians) and science closer to government, politics and policy. Within this initiative they are involved in a (bi-)annual career day, summer school and fellowship.
