CampusCrowdMap Avoid the crowd

Keeping our campus safe is a priority for the UT. In addition to following the general corona regulations, everyone is also asked to avoid busy places. To help you do this, the CampusCrowdMap is now online.

The CampusCrowdMap gives you an indication of current occupancy in different UT buildings. the colours red, orange and green indicate how the number of people inside relates to the 1.5M capacity of the specific building. With this information, you can decide for yourself which building you want to visit in between meetings or classes.

How does it work?

Because we attach great value to everyone's privacy, the occupancy is measured by the number of devices connected to the wifi networks 'eduroam' or 'Enschede_stad_van_nu' and not on an individual level. Also, no personal information is stored on the application. Because we measure the occupancy by the number of devices that are connected the indication doesn’t give you a guarantee but a good estimate that can support in your personal decisions which places to visit and which to avoid.

Development

At the moment the CampusCrowdMap shows the occupancy per building, but this will be expanded in the upcoming weeks to the occupancy per floor.
