New web application BMS Ethical Review

Since the introduction of the mandatory ethical review for research involving people and/or (sensitive) data about individuals, groups or organizations in 2016, there have been various developments in the area of ethics, privacy (GDPR) and data policy. That is why in the last year we have been working on a renewed ethical review web application that fits well with the variety of research within BMS.

The new web application, called BMS Ethical Review, will be put into use on 10 December by the BMS Ethics Committee for the ethical assessment of research applications. From that moment on, new applications have to be submitted through the new web application. The current web application will of course remain active for the completion of applications already submitted.

What’s new?

  • Questions are provided with info texts for clarification
  • Attachments (e.g. informed consent or non-wmo mandatory decision) can now be attached to your application.
  • The final PDF contains the committee's advisory decision
  • For research with existing or new to be collected data there are separate flows
  • Application emails now have a recognizable sender and subject
  • You will receive a reminder from the web application if your application has not yet been finalized or completed.

Need help?

The new web application works intuitively. In case something is unclear, we have short guides available for researchers/students (submitters) and for counsellors who have to approve applications before they are submitted to our committee members for ethical review.

As of 10 December you can find the new BMS Ethical Review web application on our website.
