Laser cut front panel

The people at the DesignLab laser cut a front panel for me and boy were they helpful!

There was a problem with the material I brought though. It wasn’t clear whether it could be laser cut or not. David tried finding if it was suitable for it on the web but couldn’t find a satisfactory answer. So together with Andrea they tried multiple settings on the laser cutter to see the results. After about three runs they found something that could work.
There was also something wrong with the design-file but nothing Andrea and David couldn’t fix.

So after some trouble-shooting they were ready to go and I could see the impressive machine cut very precisely and quick.

Laser cutter in action

On some corners there were small residues of molten plastic. In case it couldn’t be scuffed away they were kind enough to laser cut a woorden front panel for me just in case! That’s what I call service.

Fron Panel final result

The final result can be seen in the picture above. The buttons fit perfectly in the holes and after some scrubbing with sandpaper it has a nice smooth, clean surface. I’m very happy with it.

A big shout out to David and Andrea for their expertise and patience!
