In case you missed it, the Sustainability Series is an event series organised by GreenHub Twente, DesignLab UTwente and SUsTain. It focuses on the role that YOU as an individual can play through various events including panels, interactive discussions and even movie nights! Each month will be themed and there are two events per theme.
This year instead of just your impact, we will be focusing on Your Voice. What impact can citizen involvement make? How can you make yourself heard? The events in the series are free and open to all, whether you are an expert or just a beginner.
In March, we’re kicking off with Grounding the Green Deal. After a successful first event where the EU sustainability policies that have been grouped in the policy package of the Green Deal were presented and discussed, it's on to Event 2!
2020 was an interesting year for many reasons, one of which was the heightened number of large citizen protests across the world. But what role can citizens really play in decision-making past this kind of demonstration? How else can they make sure that their voices are heard?
The next event on the 24th is going to be all about citizen councils and will be an interactive session where you can understand and discuss along with your fellow citizens about what roles you think citizen councils should play. This session will be introduced and moderated by G1000, a foundation that is working towards building a Citizens Council to supplement the existing political system by helping build bridges between citizens and the government. To follow up on our last event about Green Deal, we will also have a presentation from eXtinction Rebellion about the need for a Citizen Council specifically for combatting climate change.
The event will be held on the 24th of March at 19:00 on Zoom and the link will be emailed to you before the event.
You can find out more about upcoming events on our Facebook events page.
DesignLab organises the Sustainability Series in collaboration with Green Hub Twente and SUsTain. Green Hub Twente is the central point for sustainability knowledge and initiatives at the UT. SUsTain is a student group and platform where students, staff, and local people can discuss and practically apply their efforts in the field of sustainability. We came together to organise this series as we all stand for sustainability, empowering people to do more, and encouraging discussion among students, staff, and citizens alike.
