Welcome to Citizen Science Hub Twente
Connecting science with society — together, we shape the future.
Citizen Science Hub Twente is the regional platform where citizens, researchers, policymakers, and organisations work together on scientific research that matters. We believe that science becomes stronger, more relevant, and more impactful when it is co-created with the people it affects.
Whether you’re concerned about local air quality, passionate about the energy transition, or exploring how technology can serve society in fair and inclusive ways — citizen science offers a powerful way to get involved. By combining academic knowledge with lived experience and local expertise, we create meaningful solutions to real-world challenges.
Based at the DesignLab of the University of Twente, our hub supports and initiates citizen science projects across the region. We offer tools, training, and guidance for anyone who wants to contribute to research — from curious individuals and community groups to schools, municipalities, and social organisations.
We are inspired by the 10 Principles of Citizen Science from ECSA (European Citizen Science Association), promoting openness, inclusion, and mutual respect between all contributors to knowledge.
