Phone scammers active at the Unviersity

The last couple of days several employees have received calls from an external party that is trying to persuade you to install software.

In most cases they pretend to be a helpdesk employee of Microsoft (or Windows) and inform you about problems with your computer. Various tricks are used to entice you to install software so that they can take over your computer.

LISA never calls out of the blue with a request to take over your computer. This always happens after a request from yourself, for example with a problem that you have reported to the ICT Service Desk.

Do not respond to this. If you were tempted to perform actions on your computer, report this directly to CERT-UT.
