New position for Mark Weirath

Dear culture lovers, students and colleagues,

I have recently decided to retire as department head of Culture & Events and thus as head of Culture at the University of Twente. This decision follows a number of medical procedures with long recovery periods. It is for health reasons that I have decided to step aside and make room for a new manager and ambassador for Culture on Campus.

Since 1998 I have been working within the Culture Department of the UT in the Vrijhof, first as a technician, then as association coordinator and for the last seven years as head of Culture & Events and Booking Office. I have always worked with great pleasure and passion for our student culture in the Vrijhof.

As of 1 August 2021, I will continue as a policy advisor in the staff of Campus & Facility Management (CFM), the service department of which Culture & Events is also a part. My area of focus will be the Campus, so I will continue to be involved with our students, staff and academic education, albeit from a different perspective.

A big thank you to everyone for almost 25 years of Culture on Campus! I have really enjoyed everything that we as a team have been able to do for our cultural sector and even more what we have received in return. The hundreds of (association) performances, course results and exhibitions have been the fuel for my passion for culture.

Kind regards and hope to see you on the Campus!
