Cross-TIC is a new project that aims to support artists in Twente who want to develop cross-media productions, using Technology, Innovation and Creativity.
Visual artists, performers, designers, new media developers and other creatives are invited to participate in research, productions, intensive development paths and collective activities, and are supported through external experts, project coordinators and a program of site visits and supporting activities. Cross-TIC is carried by nine main partners, and further realized in collaboration with a wide range of local partners. Cross-TIC is supported by the Province of Overijssel, and several municipalities that are part of Cultuurregio Twente.
Opportunities for artists
Cross-TIC offers paid opportunities for short projects (research/experiment), medium-sized productions and long (intensive) projects. These different trajectories are carried out within different profiles:
– Broedplaatsen (experimental artists-communities)
– Podium (for practices based on performing for a live audience)
– Time Based Media (for a wide range of time-based artistic approaches)
– Maakplaatsen (for applied proposals that relate to or aim to solve social issues).
And soon to be published: Generators (for Collectives)
Projects take place from 2022 to 2024. The results can be presented at exhibition spaces, theatres and cinemas, in libraries, kulturhuzen, at festivals, in museums and in public space all around Twente.
Open Calls
Cross-TIC invites visual artists, performers, designers, new media developers and other artists to apply for these projects by checking out the Open Calls and their deadlines on this website. Cross-TIC seeks proposals which:
– are of professional and competitive quality;
– explicitly apply a cross-medial approach;
– are focused on research, experimentation, and collaboration.
To apply, please find the profile that applies to you and submit your project plan (consisting of 4 separate PDFs) via the Google form linked on the page of the profile you’d like to work in. In your project plan, please describe what you want to do and why; how your plan relates to your existing practice as a maker; how you are going to realize a cross-media approach; whether you want to enlist external expertise and with whom you might want to carry out your project.
Current Open Call (Research Opportunities)
Deadline: 10th of March
After the deadline, all project proposals are discussed by four profile coordinators. The coordinator of the relevant Open Call is ultimately responsible for the selection of the project and its supervision. You will receive a response to your proposal no later than 4 weeks after the deadline. The research projects are set to start from from May 2022.
