Our former student Sven Relijveld, alumni of the master’s program Industrial Engineering & Management (IEM), received first place in Bekader (IEM & BA alumni association) thesis competition. Sven, as well as the other winners and finalists, received their awards at a ceremony on October 28th.
Sven’s excellent master thesis explores a novel branch of data science, named Process Mining, in algorithmically deriving and evaluating care pathways for cancer patients with complex care. The thesis, titled “Analysis on the costs of care for colorectal cancer patients using Australian multi-centre linked data”, was supervised by Dr. Derya Demirtas, Fanny Franchini, Michelle Tew, and Maarten IJzerman.
This work as well as other current process mining work by CHOIR were presented at the CHOIR seminar on October 8th.
