Aleida Braaksma rejoins CHOIR

This month, dr. Aleida Braaksma joined CHOIR as a staff member. She returned to CHOIR from the United States, where she spent the past two years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) collaborating with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

Aleida: "My research focusses on planning and scheduling in healthcare, with a particular interest in decision making under uncertainty.

I received my M.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Twente in 2010. My master thesis project, for which I received multiple thesis awards, marked the start of my career in healthcare operations research. In 2015, I received the Ph.D. degree for the dissertation ‘Timely and Efficient planning of TReatments through Intelligent Scheduling’. I performed my Ph.D. project at CHOIR and the Academic Medical Center (AMC) Amsterdam. The past two years, I have worked in Boston as a postdoctoral fellow in healthcare operations research within the MGH-MIT Collaboration. The implementation of my research results has significantly benefitted patients and professionals at Massachusetts General Hospital.

It is an honor and a pleasure to be back at CHOIR."
