BMS offers various types of support to researchers, a number of these services are currently provided by Lyan, Sofia, Tom and Shaunie of the BMS Research Support Office. Since the vacant managerial position will not be filled, the staff of the current research support office will be placed under different existing organisational units within BMS, starting 1 February.
Concretely:
- The Research Support Office as a unit will cease to exist;
- The research support colleagues will be integrated into existing teams and will keep offering their support and expertise - BMS Lab (Lyan, as well as data stewards Deniece/Minsi), International Office (Tom), Dean's Office (Sofia), and Management Support (Shaunie);
- The research support website and research-support-bms@utwente.nl email address will remain in use, with more streamlined information provision between different sites (research support website, BMS Lab website and UT Service Portal) being explored in the near future.
Why this change?
The leave of the previous manager (Marieke van Rooij) of the BMS Research Support Office started an evaluation of the organisation of research support at BMS. What do we offer, is that in line with the needs of researchers, the expertise and ambitions of our current support staff, and is this organised effectively? From this evaluation, the decision was made to stop having the BMS Research Support Office as a separate service department within BMS.
What will you notice?
You will hardly notice any of this, our support remains and will hopefully even strengthen by these new connections. We will keep short lines and consult with each other, but we will change working locations. You can find the respective working locations on our People Pages.
