Call for proposals For collaborative efforts with ECIU partners

As you may be aware, the UT is participating in the building of the ECIU University. The Institute for SMART European Regions (SMART-ER) represents the key R&I-related effort by the ECIUU, as it is the virtual research institute under development of the ECIU University. SMART-ER aims to be a hub through which staff from ECIU members and their societal partners can connect and engage in collaborative research efforts. For more information, please see: https://www.eciu.org/smart-er-for-researchers#about-smart-er.

This month, the SMART-ER Institute has launched a second call for proposals from its seed programme that I’d like to bring to your attention based on your research profile. Staff members can apply for funding to support various types of collaborative efforts with ECIU partners for a period of 6 -12 months. Deadline for applications to the SMART-ER Seed programme is 01 july 2022. Following a successful application to SMART-ER, staff can also apply to the UT’s internal budget to cover some of the salary costs required to fulfil the activities. The previous round has led to some interesting projects in which UT colleagues are participating.

  • Co-tutelle of doctoral students and industrial doctorates
  • Blended mobility (exchange of staff) to create networks
  • Seed Projects: small research projects that may result in future larger joint collaborations

Please see the attached document below for more information. Application forms and further information can be found here: https://www.eciu.org/smart-er-for-researchers#research-funding. Any questions or remarks can be raised towards Felix van Urk (S&P – f.c.vanurk@utwente.nl), the UT’s local contact point for SMART-ER.
