According to the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (Wet Hoger onderwijs en Wetenschappelijk onderzoek, WHW) the examination board has the competence to deviate from certain provisions in the Education and Examination Regulations (EER) of this university in specific individual cases. In order to qualify, students can submit a motivated request which will be decided upon by the examination board. The examination boards are only competent to handle requests of students who are enrolled in a study unit coordinated by the faculty BMS.
How to submit a request
Please note that the examination boards BMS will only handle complete requests! If your request is incomplete, the examination board will set a deadline to complement your request. The decision term for the examination board will then also be extended. If you do not provide the examination board with the requested documents within the set deadline, your request will be treated as inadmissible and settled.
- read the instructions per subject
- read the rules applying to the subject in the Rules & Guidelines (R&G) of the examination boards faculty BMS
- read the rules in the EER (Education and Examination Regulations) for a Bachelor or Master programme and the PSP (Programme Specific Part) to the EER of your programme
- write a proper motivation letter (link to a proper motivation letter)
- attach the requested documents (specified in each subject below)
- submit your request making use of the web application form (mentioned under specific subject)

Declaration of special (personal) circumstances
If a student has special (personal) circumstances, that could affect the study, e.g. taking part in exams, the student has to notify the study adviser of the program of these circumstances in a timely manner. The study adviser will then confirm these circumstances in writing so that the declaration can be added to the request. Please note that these special (personal) circumstances have to be directly and uniquely related to the failing or impossibility to sit the test.
