Anouka van Eerdewijk is Senior Advisor at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT, Amsterdam), and Affiliated Researcher at the Institute for Gender Studies (Radboud University Nijmegen). Red threads in her work are gender mainstreaming, transformational change and norm diffusion processes, with an emphasis on gender and rights. Her engagement with transformative change and gender mainstreaming stems from both academic research, and her work as advisor at the interface between theory and practice. In her more recent work as advisor, she works with international research institute and development agencies on capacity building, applied research, organizational learning and policy advise to support the institutionalization of gender equality and women’s empowerment. She co-edited a special issue on gender mainstreaming for the Journal of International Development (with Tine Davids), has published in Globalizations and Gender and Development, and co-published an edited volume Gender Equality Norms in Regional Governance (with Anna van der Vleuten and Conny Roggeband). Two recent publications on gender mainstreaming and feminist knowledge transfer are in Palgrave volumes: The Palgrave Handbook on Gender and Development (Harcourt 2016), and The Politics of Feminist Knowledge Transfer: Exploring Gender Training and Expertise (Bustelo et al. 2016).
