While preparing the Bubble-Gun system for actual skin injections using hydrogels, our researchers discovered distinct impact behavior based on jet characteristics and material stiffness. As the vast majority of (microfluidic)jet impact behavior was still uncharted territory, the Bubble-Gun team decided to map and explore the boundaries of these impact regimes. The paper “Microfluidic jet impact: spreading, splashing, soft substrate deformation and injection” summarizes this work and is published in the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science.
