To date, scientists mostly focus on organic/ inorganic photoresins for 3D printing, allowing us to print structures whose scale lies beyond our eyesight. In their Forum article, Winczewski and co-authors highlight the need to develop cutting-edge photoresins for 3D printing that transform into functional glass/ceramics upon heat exposure. Innovation at the forefront is crucial to paving the way for crafting unique multi-material optical components with spatially dissimilar compositions.
