Best presentation award INASCON 2018 for Yorick Birkhölzer

Yorick Birkhölzer, PhD researcher in the Inorganic Materials Science group and former Master Nanotechnology student at the University of Twente, won the audience award for the best presentation held at INASCON 2018 in Trondheim, Norway. His talk was titled "Pulsed laser deposition of ferroelectric oxides on silicon for neuromorphic applications" and was based on work he performed during his Master thesis under supervision of prof. Guus Rijnders and prof. Gertjan Koster.

The International Nanoscience Student Conference (INASCON) is an annual conference organized by students for students who are doing research in different fields of nanotechnology. It is aimed to bring students from the whole world together to present and discuss their projects. INASCON is furthermore known for its impressive list of keynote speakers culminating in this year's conference hosting two Nobel laureates. The conference was organized by students of the master program Nanotechnology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

INASCON was established in 2007 at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. In 2016 the conference was organized by a group of PhD candidates and Master Nanotechnology students and alumni from the University of Twente.

In 2019 INASCON will be held at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and for the first time outside of Europe.
