NEW YORK - Periklis Tzanetis, Postdoc within the Orthopaedic Research Group of the Faculty Engineering Technology at the University of Twente, was recognized with the prestigious Early Career Investigator Award 2023 from the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA). The award ceremony was held on September 28 during the 34^th ISTA Congress in New York, USA.

This honor was bestowed in acknowledgment of his research focused on achieving functional reconstruction of the pre-diseased state in robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty. The award was accompanied by a monetary prize of USD $3,000.

Tzanetis’ research work contributes to orthopedic research by developing a new technique based on musculoskeletal modeling. This should help surgeons formulate a personalized treatment plan for patients with severe knee osteoarthritis. The ultimate goal is to restore the healthy functionality of the patients’ knee joint through robotic surgery.
