From June 25 to 28, 2025, ESAO 2025 will take place at the TechMed Centre, University of Twente. This leading conference focuses on cutting-edge developments in (bio)artificial organs and advanced organ models, bringing together researchers, clinicians, engineers, and industry partners to share knowledge and accelerate innovation in organ replacement therapies and patient care.
As organ failure becomes an increasingly urgent global health challenge, breakthroughs in bioartificial organs and organ models offer new hope for patients and revolutionary opportunities for healthcare systems. ESAO 2025 will highlight the latest advancements, including artificial kidneys, heart pumps, liver models, and microfluidic technologies, as well as in vitro and in-silico models, oxygen supply in artificial organs, and novel toxin removal strategies in dialysis.
Organised by the University of Twente, the event features a comprehensive four-day programme where attendees can engage in 12 keynote lectures, 100+ scientific talks & 12+ posters, 7 interactive symposia, 4 plenary lectures, demo's and booths and in-depth discussions that explore both scientific breakthroughs and the ethical and societal implications of emerging technologies.
We’re proud to welcome leading voices in the field, each bringing their unique perspective and experience to the stage:
- Steve Ash (HemoCleanse Technologies, USA) on the ups and downs of medical device development
- Shuvo Roy (UCSF, USA) with a visionary talk on artificial organs
- Andries van der Meer (University of Twente, NL) on organs-on-chips and drug development
- Cristiano Amarelli (Monaldi Hospital, IT) on novel (bio)artificial heart replacement strategies
About ESAO:
