At the TechMed Simulation Centre, we have access to two different types of MRI scanners that can be used for research, innovation, and education.
1.5T Interventional MRI
The Siemens Magnetom Aera 1.5T is optimized for MRI-guided interventions such as ablation and catheter tracking. In addition to a comprehensive set of standard MRI sequences, custom sequences can be designed and tested. Through the Access-I interface, third-party hardware can be connected to the scanner, enabling exploration of robotic, image-guided interventions. The availability of compressed air and dedicated conduits allows for the use of (perfusion) phantoms.
0.25T MRI with Tiltable Table
The Esaote G-scan Brio 0.25T was originally developed for musculoskeletal diagnostics. Thanks to its rotating portal, the Esaote G-scan Brio system enables tiltable MRI imaging. This scanner is particularly well-suited for new experimental and preclinical studies involving conditions influenced by gravity, such as pelvic floor disorders and vascular issues.
Education, Research, and Innovation
The MRI scanners are adjacent to a spacious, flexibly configurable control and teaching room that supports interactive education. The room is equipped for both phantom-based research and testing as well as work with human subjects. All activities are supervised by our imaging technicians specialized in MRI.
