Intensive Care Units

Explore the TechMed Centre and the health labs

The simulation and training centre features two realistic acute care rooms. These spaces are used for training and education in the context of intensive care (ICU) or emergency care (ED). The focus is on practicing decision-making in a safe environment and experiencing the consequences of actions in real time.

Facilities

Both rooms are equipped with advanced patient simulators (high-fidelity mannequins) that can replicate vital functions and respond to medical interventions such as medication administration, ventilation, and defibrillation. The same monitoring and ventilation equipment used in hospitals is available, ensuring a highly realistic setting.

Use cases

The simulators are remotely controlled to run a wide range of training scenarios, from life-threatening emergencies to routine procedures. These scenarios can be adjusted in real time based on the participants' actions and learning objectives, creating an interactive and realistic learning experience.

These rooms are ideal for practicing the systematic approach to critically ill patients, as well as for training communication and teamwork under pressure. In addition, the validated physiological models that drive the simulators are used as educational tools to teach the fundamentals of physiology to Technical Medicine students.

Additional Features

Each room is equipped with cameras and microphones for observation and feedback. Team performance can be monitored from the control room via one-way mirrors. Dedicated pre- and debriefing rooms are available nearby to support pre- and debriefing.
