UTs program on Key Enabling Technologies for Personalized Medicine
The University of Twente recently started a new program on Key Enabling Technologies for Personalized Medicine. This program combines developments in the field of medical technology and personalized medicine and aims to improve and personalize care. One of the pillars in this program is the field of Phantom research infrastructure.
The candidate will work with the project-leader of an initiative to develop a large-scale consortium project. She/he will have the responsibility to perform literature surveys to extract information and statistics in the field of various imaging modalities; arrange meetings and participate together with project-leader with various stakeholders in academia, hospitals and industry; elicit opinions, information and inputs from various members of the consortium according to formats which have been developed in cooperation with the project-leader. She/he will help with preparing the budget, and be responsible for contacting companies for securing quotations for various instruments and infrastructural items. The candidate will contribute to developing schematics, figures and other display items and assist in the writing process.
What you will learn
You will work closely with the project leader and several PIs at the Tech Med Centre. You will be exposed to various aspects that deal with consortium building and development of a large project proposal under the guidance of the project leader and the support team of the Tech Med Centre. To mention a few aspects- planning and coordination of efforts to meet strict deadlines, managing proposal-related paperwork, managing and following-up on correspondences with other contributors and potential stakeholders in industry and hospitals. All in all this experience will be invaluable for the next career steps in academia or in industry, specifically for preparing project proposals and for project management support and consultancy.
You will be part of the new Multi-Modality Medical Imaging group of the University of Twente. You will work closely within the Imaging & Diagnostics Cluster of the Tech Med Centre. In addition, you will be embedded in the University of Twentes program on Key Enabling Technologies for Personalized Medicine. The position is 0.8FT for 12 months, with a possible extension up to 18 months.

- Do you have expertise in technical or technical-medical aspects of imaging? Have you developed sophisticated phantoms for your research?
The successful candidate is a Biomedical Engineer or Technical Medicine specialist with a PhD in technical or technical-medical aspects of medical imaging. Experience in developing sophisticated phantoms is desirable. Quality research skills in these topics should have been demonstrated during the PhD. High creativity, high self-motivation, excellent command of English and Dutch in speaking and writing as well as professional communication and team working skills is required. Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities are required. Interest and desire to develop/sharpen skills in coordination are needed.
We offer a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher according to the Job Classification System (UFO), and salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities. The salary amounts, depending on education and experience, minimal € 3.353,- to a maximum of € 4.402,- gross per month in case of full-time employment.
The offer further involves: a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, a year-end bonus of 8.3%, a solid pension scheme, a minimum of 29 holidays, and numerous professional and personal development programmes.
