As an assistant professor, you will do research and teaching on the contribution of science and technology, including the role of universities, to sustainability transformations. The position has a strong interdisciplinary profile and you will work with colleagues from diverse social science, natural science, engineering, and humanities perspectives. You will design and undertake innovative research, develop and execute teaching activities, facilitate collaboration and reflection, and co-produce strategies and options for action.
- Holds a PhD in science & technology studies, political science, environmental social science or another relevant filed.
- Fits with the thematic focus described above, as demonstrated by relevant research experience and publications.
- Has good didactic skills and experience with education at BSc, MSc or PhD levels in the social sciences as well as for interdisciplinary audiences.
- Has obtained, or is willing to obtain, a University Teaching Qualification certificate
- Is creative and a good communicator. Is able to communicate clearly to multiple audiences, and interact successfully with academics, professionals, and lay audiences.
We offer a permanent position with a one-year probationary period (formally a 1-year contract with prospect of permanent contract). The starting salary, depending on your experience, ranges between € 3.807 to € 6.421 gross per month (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities), based on the job profile Assistant or Associate Professor. The STePS section is part of the department of Technology, Policy, Society (TPS), in which we closely collaborate with Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) and with sections on environmental and energy systems, philosophy, and health technology.
