The Behavioural Data Science Incubator (BDSI) is a hub of researchers in data science in the BMS faculty. The aim of this incubator is to spark innovation and collaboration in data science that involves human behaviour: to accelerate and inspire data-driven research that uses statistical models, machine learning or simulation techniques. BDSI is closely connected to the BMS lab, that facilitates a high-tech environment for social sciences including VR, new sensor technologies, knowledge in data processing, visualizations, and outcome measures. You are able to successfully support and advise researchers and students regarding data science at BMS. Your excellent computing skills come either from a degree in computer science or are acquired with a background in the social sciences. You are well-versed in big data analytics and data mining with R and Python and have statistical knowledge. You are able to work both autonomously and in multidisciplinary project teams. You explore new solutions and translate research questions into great data analysis and visualisation. Furthermore, you have interest in or affinity with the social/behavioural sciences, have a creative mindset, can convince others, like to collaborate in a team and have a service orientation.

A data scientist at the Behavioural Data Science Incubator is a challenging position in a dynamic environment for a period of initially one or two years at 32-38 hours per week, depending on experience and qualifications. You will be formally placed at the BMS Lab. After a positive evaluation you are eligible for one more year. After that, a permanent position depends on the viability of the Incubator. The salary for this position depends on your experience and background and will be € 4.274,- max. gross per month (according to the salary scales 1-2-2019 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
