Various grants are available to support educational innovation, and in this edition of The Teaching Times, we’re highlighting two funding opportunities you can apply for this month to further develop your teaching.
Brinksma Innovation Grant (BIG)
The Brinksma Innovation Grant (BIG) is awarded annually to an academic staff member who seeks to develop or test an innovative didactic concept within a course or module at the University of Twente. This grant recognizes educators committed to continuously improving their teaching.
The winner receives financial compensation equivalent to 0.2 FTE for one calendar year, allocated to their department. Additionally, they gain access to expert support from the CELT team and up to €2,500 for travel and project-related expenses. As a symbolic reward, the recipient is also presented with a unique trophy—a bronze pig—linked to the grant’s Dutch abbreviation.
ECIU University Education Seed Call
The ECIU University Education Seed Call is now open for applications. This initiative, funded by the Erasmus+ Project, provides two grants of €40,000 each to support programs in transforming existing intracurricular courses into ECIU University courses. The goal is to create learning opportunities that are open to both UT students and those from ECIU’s partner universities.
This grant offers a unique opportunity to develop innovative, flexible, and challenge-based education in line with ECIU University’s mission of lifelong learning.
