Track curriculum

The Master Research Honours consists of three separate courses, each worth 5 EC. Successful completion of the three courses will be awarded with the certificate of the Research Master Honours programme and the University of Twente Honours Pin.

Structure

RESEARCH MANAGEMENT & ACADEMIC SKILLS (COURSE CODE 201400532)

This course aims at a broad range of topics related to doing research. The activities include participation in the Introduction days and the course workshops Research Management, Creative Thinking, Presentation Skills and Science Slam, Personal Effectiveness, and an assignment with a member of the JA@UT network.

RESEARCH HONOURS TRAINING & PROJECT (COURSE CODE 201400533)

The course aims at practising science research writing in several training sessions. Students will write either a research article or research proposal and will receive feedback during this process in three individual coaching sessions, of which the final one is also the final assessment of the research proposal or research article. In addition, students will reflect on their professional development and finally, they will organise a final workshop during the final course element Apotheosis.

COMMUNICATION, INNOVATION & SOCIETY (COURSE CODE 201600221)

In this course both broader aspects of the science-society relationship and what those mean for communication are considered. The second part focuses on responsible conduct – i.e. academic integrity – when doing research.

Assessment

Each of the 3 courses is assessed separately, and all must be completed with a passing grade in order to successfully complete the programme. The courses are assessed through attendance, participation, and assignments, as well as the research article or proposal made as part of the Research Honours training & project course that is graded at the end of the programme.
