Nonlinear Solid Mechanics (NSM)

Welcome to the home page of the chair Nonlinear Solid Mechanics.

The chair Nonlinear Solid Mechanics is part of the Applied Mechanics section of the faculty of Engineering Technology. Members of this chair contribute to lectures in the programmes Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Biomedical Engineering and Advanced Technology. Research concentrates on nonlinear material modelling, algorithm development and nonlinear analysis and optimization of structures and processes.

Nonlinearities in solid mechanics are commonly classified in material nonlinearities, geometrical nonlinearities and contact nonlinearities. The chair’s main application areas are forming processes and biomaterials.
