Students CE

Joanne Ax

Hi! My name is Joanne Ax. Currently I am in my third year of the bachelor civil engineering. In January I decided to do a board year at study association ConcepT. At this moment I am fulfilling the roles of officer of educational affairs, internal affairs and vice chairman. The combination of my functions makes that I can focus on the quality of education, but maintaining the wishes of students. This gives me the opportunity to speak on both fronts as eventually the education needs to be qualitive good, but also attractive to students. This is also the reason I want to join the faculty council, to be able to discuss and have a say in matters that are important for students as well as the faculty. I am counting on your votes to make sure we can maintain a healthy faculty and qualitive education and facilities.

Merric McWhorter

Dear fellow students and staff,

My name is Merric McWhorter and I am currently the Chairman & Officer of External Affairs of Study Association ConcepT. I am excited to announce my candidacy for a position within the Faculty Council of the Engineering Technology Faculty and I hope to be able to commit myself to ensuring that every voice is heard. Whether this voice belongs to students, staff, or researchers, I am counting on your vote so that I can help our education, facilities and community to strengthen towards new possibilities.

With an active drive to improve our shared environment, I am ready to listen, learn, and act on your behalf! Thank you for considering my candidacy, I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the growth and excellence of our faculty.

Students ME

Tom Bijwaard

Hello everyone, I am Tom Bijwaard, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the ET Faculty Council.

Currently, I am a second-year Mechanical Engineering student. However, this year I have chosen to join the board of the study association W.S.G. Isaac Newton for Mechanical Engineering as Commissioner of Educational Affairs. In this role, I represent the voice of students within the Mechanical Engineering program.

I am very interested in how our university operates, which is why I would love to join the Faculty Council to learn even more. I hope to contribute to maintaining the quality of our education, as well as addressing other important issues within our faculty, by ensuring that students’ voices are heard.

I hope this gives you a clear idea of who I am and what I stand for!

Larissa Veenhof

Dear reader,

I am excited to present myself as a candidate for the Faculty Council of ET. Before I share why I believe I can make a positive impact, I would like to introduce myself!

My name is Larissa Veenhof, and I am a second-year Mechanical Engineering student. This year, I made the decision to learn new skills by becoming board of my study association W.S.G. Isaac Newton. Within the association, I fulfill the roles of Commissioner of Internal Affairs and Commissioner of Committee Finances, next to this I am also the Commissioner of Well-Being. A key part of my tasks is engaging with many students to understand their perspectives, which I find fulfilling.

I am someone who enjoys listening to others, learning what they think about important matters, and I can voice my opinions well whenever needed. I believe these qualities would help me represent the interests of both students and staff of our faculty well. It would be an honor to represent our faculty in the future!

Luuk Vreeling

My name is Luuk Vreeling. A 20-year-old, third-year mechanical engineering student. Currently, I’m filling my time as the vice-chairman at W.S.G. Isaac Newton. Furthermore, I enjoy practising Judo at V.A.S. Arashi, playing board games with my housemates, or going on the water if the weather allows. In the Faculty Council, I hope to improve student involvement within (study) associations. I would like to work on topics such as the quality of education, improving subjects like TA’s, the time teachers have, and the quality of lectures.

I hope you will allow me to represent you and all other students in the Faculty Council for the upcoming year.

Students IDE

Martyna Mariak

Hello! My name is Martyna Mariak and I’m a second-year student of Industral Design Engineeering and like every stereotypical IDE’r I like to engage in arts and crafts in my free time. I come from Poland, but I’ve been enjoying my study time here in the Netherlands, staying active when it comes to different associations (especially my Study Association - S.G. Daedalus, where I’m currently doing a board year) and within my study itself. For a year I was a part of the Programme Committee where I got to learn more about how University works and share the student perspectives. I would love to continue my student input and representing students in front of the Faculty.

Simone Bertels

My name is Simone Bertels, and now almost at the end of my third year in Enschede and occupied with finishing my bachelor Industrial Design Engineering. In this election, I represent the party DAS, which stands for the Ambitious Student, emphasising the importance of the development of not only your hard skills but also your soft skills. I’m personally also active at multiple social clubs, like the sorority Spooky and Audentis, while having a side job and trying to keep fit. I see the importance of keeping a healthy balance between study and personal activities. It is my ambition to keep informed about current (changes in) policies of the university and to communicate this to the students of the faculty, to safeguard and improve this balance.

In addition, I’m a daughter of a mixed marriage; this background helps me understand the concerns of both Dutch and international students. I want to use this characteristic to our advantage.

Changes start with all of us. Are you with us? Vote for me this June!

Florens Boelen

My name is Florens Boelen, and I am a third year IDE student. I went to high school in Apeldoorn, where I became active within multiple student bodies within the school and within the municipality. After going to university, I became active within S.G. Daedalus, where I am currently doing a board year as the treasurer.

In these past three years I have gotten to know the faculty and people of the faculty well, which will help me voice the opinion of other students. There is a lot changing in the Netherlands and I want to protect student activism and student life as we’re enjoying it. I will use my experience with finances to be critical of the budget cuts and financial documents. So that we can protect student rights and all enjoy our time as students.
