PhD Defense of Stef Baas

After years of rigorous research and dedication, Stef Baas successfully defended his PhD dissertation on “Computational Methods for Bayesian Covariance Structure Modeling and Multi-Armed Bandit-Based Desing of Clinical Trials” on November 15, 2024.

The committee composed of Joris Mulder (Tilburg University), Marie-Colette van Lieshout (CWI, University of Twente), Sofía Villar (University of Cambridge), Wouter Koolen (University of Twente), Sandjai Bhulai (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Jean-Paul Fox (University of Twente), Richard Boucherie (University of Twente) and chair Marc Uetz (University of Twente) was impressed by the quality and quantity of Stef's work. 

Family, friends, and colleagues celebrated Stef's achievement, marking the end of his doctoral journey and the beginning of a promising career, starting with a PostDoc position at Cambridge’s Biostatistics Unit, where he continues his research into the allocation of participants in clinical trials.
