Werner Scheinhardt wins Mathematics teaching award

On Thursday February 27 Nelly Litvak, Pranab Mandal and Werner Scheinhardt competed for the Applied Mathematics Educations Prize 2020, after being nominated by our mathematics students. So three 'stochastic people', two of which are from our SOR group! After three nice presentations most votes went to Werners talk, entitled "Math notation: convention or convenience?" on how conventional notation is not always the most convenient; Part of it was dedicated to the case for using tau= 6.28... as the circle constant, rather than  pi= 3.14...

The slides can be found on his website or via this direct link.
