The University of Twente recently celebrated the kick-off of its Process Science community, a multidisciplinary initiative that aims to advance the study and application of process mining and process analytics. This community brings together researchers and professionals to explore how data-driven techniques can enhance the understanding and improvement of complex organizational processes.

Dr.ir. Rob Bemthuis, from our department, and dr. Faiza Bukhsh, from the DMB group, played an active role in this launch. Their involvement underscores the importance of collaboration between various research domains to drive innovation in process science.
Process mining, a key focus of the community, has potential for the Pervasive Systems group. In pervasive computing, where interconnected devices and systems collect massive amounts of real-time data, process mining can be used to extract meaningful insights from this continuous data flow. It enables the identification of patterns, inefficiencies, and bottlenecks in real-world processes, whether in logistics, manufacturing, or healthcare.
