Interactive Dining Table
This innovative dining table integrates load cells and LED lights to assess various aspects of dining behaviour, such as weight shifts around the table, capturing individual data on dining habits and social data on interactions among table members. Throughout the meal, the table emits light signals, offering members feedback on their actions, providing insights into their eating choices, and encouraging more social dining behaviour through qualitative, expressive interactions.
Featured at the Dutch Design Week, the table is a collaborative creation by Juliet Haarman (EWI/HMI), Roelof de Vries (EWI/BSS), Hermie Hermens (EWI/BSS), and freelance designer Emiel Harmsen as part of the Personalized eHealth technology research program.
