Submission deadline: 17 April 2024 27 April 2024
Questions to: journal-fois2024@easychair.org
The FOIS 2024 journal-first track provides a forum to discuss recent published research on topics related to formal ontology for broader dissemination within the FOIS community. The track invites submissions of extended abstracts of papers that have appeared or have been accepted for publication in journals, but have not been previously presented at FOIS or any other applied ontology-focused conference, including ICBO, ISWC, ESWC, K-CAP, and all JOWO workshops.
Copyright permitting, accepted abstracts to the track (or shortened versions) will be published in the conference proceedings for FOIS satellite events within the IAOA series at CEUR-WS. In addition, they will be presented during the conference (either on-site or online). Accepted papers to the track will be linked from the conference web site.
At least one author of each accepted abstract is required to register for the conference to present the work (on-site or online).
Expected contributions
For the journal-first track, we solicit submissions that meet the following criteria:
- They relate to the topics of the FOIS conference (see FOIS 2024's call for papers).
- They are not extensions of an earlier conference or workshop paper.
- They must have been published in a journal in 2021 or later.
- They are research articles, but not review articles or commentaries.
- Submissions that are in press can be submitted as long as the final camera-ready version is available.
Submission
Submissions must be done electronically via EasyChair and include:
- A cover page (single page) listing:
- the original title of the paper;
- authors;
- bibliographic references to the paper such as DOI of the original publication or, alternatively, a link to the publication at the journal’s website;
- and a statement that this article is not an extension of an earlier ontology-focused conference or workshop paper.
- A two-page extended abstract of the paper. The extended abstract should present the main contributions of the paper, discuss the relevance of the paper to applied/formal ontology, and explain the significance of the results.
A single pdf file with the materials must be submitted, through the EasyChair conference system at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fois2024.
All papers must be formatted using the one-column CEUR-ART style. The template for CEURART can be downloaded here or authors may start from this Overleaf page.
