UT commits to Cycling Mission

On 5 November University of Twente committed to the Cycling Mission of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management to increase the number of people that cycle to the UT with 10%.

During the launch moment, State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven illustrated the progress towards goals (in Dutch) set for this cabinet period: 200.000 additional commuters on the bike, the creation or improvement of long distance cycling highways and more bike parking spaces - the largest bike park was opened in Utrecht – receiving worldwide attention. Cycling is stimulated through three main ways: good facilities, attractive regulations and appropriate communication.

Several institutes of higher education committed, and together we exchange ideas and best practices to meet this ambition. The limited presence of staff and students on campus will delay some initiatives on this topic, but we will be ready to roll once we are back. In the meantime, information on mobility has been put together on the sustainability webpage of UT.
