RESULT
Do you want to take your English-language academic writing to the next level by learning tips and tricks for editing your academic writing? In this workshop you will practice editing real texts (including your own) following guidance from the teacher and discussion with peers.
We look at the principles of editing and how to edit manually, using your own writing as practice. You submit your own writing in advance of the workshop, so content is tailored to the needs of the group.
You will leave this course with an improved version of your own text, and knowledge of how to replicate editing techniques outside the classroom, making this stage of the writing process less stressful.
CONTENT
- Why should we edit?
- Why is editing our own work difficult?
- How can we make it easier?
- What to look for when editing, how to develop an approach and method, and tools and resources you can use.
- Practice!
- Content of the practice section varies per group, because it is tailored to the issues found in the texts you submit in advance.
DURATION AND TIME INVESTMENT
One workshop of two hours with +/- 20 minutes preparation (submit some of your own writing).
