After participating in this workshop, you will gain a deeper understanding of the multifaceted aspects of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) within your role as a student or staff member at the University of Twente.

Content

This workshop extends an open invitation to all who are curious to delve into the meaning of the contemporary buzzwords Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and discover how they directly apply to your academic pursuits or professional activities. We welcome anyone with an interest, regardless of prior involvement in DE&I or the level of awareness they may possess.

The workshop will be interactive, blending theoretical insights with moments of discussion and interaction.

Key components of the programme include:

1. Clear definitions of DE&I concepts with practical examples tailored to UT’s academic and professional settings.

2. An introspective journey into your own diversity and an exploration of the rich diversity present within our group, moving beyond mere labels.

3. An examination of our ingrained human biases and cognitive shortcuts, and how they influence our connections (or disconnections) with people.

4. Practical tips, tricks and recommendations for becoming more deeply engaged in DE&I initiatives within your academic studies or professional endeavors.

Join us in this enlightening workshop to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.

Nicole supports a diverse range of (non)profit (inter)national organizations in achieving their goals for more effective cooperation and building cultures of inclusion. She has had the privilege of welcoming a wide range of students and staff members to her workshops and training sessions over the past 10 years at UT, which has allowed her to become increasingly familiar with the community.
