Our educational System
As a newcomer to the Netherlands, you will encounter many differences from your home country, such as the climate, lifestyle, traffic, food, clothing, and religion. At UT, a full academic year is divided into two semesters (Fall & Spring), consisting of four quartiles of ten weeks each. You can only start your exchange semester in quartile 1 or 3. Visit the website of the academic calendar for specific dates.
Dutch grading system In the Netherlands, you can get a grade between 1 and 10 - 1 being the lowest, and 10 being the highest. A 10 is hardly ever given. See below the grading table per programme.
Grading tables
Grading tables, or grade distribution tables, may help you to interpret grades given by the University of Twente, and therefore does justice to the level of academic performance of all learners. We provide prospective students and current student with these grading tables to show the context in which the grade is given, so they can be properly understood and correctly compared.
ISCED is the reference international classification for organising education programmes and related qualifications by levels and fields. ISCED 2011 (levels of education) has been implemented in all EU data collections since 2014. ISCED-F 2013 (fields of education and training) has been implemented since 2016.
