Background & description
Led by the University of Twente, ECIE is a Citizen Science pilot project funded under the SMART-ER programme. The initiative seeks to build a Community of Practice on citizen social science within the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) network. The pilot is rooted in the ambition to promote more empowering, inclusive, and equitable participation of citizens in scientific research processes.
The project connects six universities and addresses the fundamental question of how to ensure that citizen engagement in science is not only accessible but meaningfully impactful.
