Timeline

Background & Description:

Formerly known as EnschedeLab. The Twente consortium, composed of five educational institutions and the municipalities of Enschede and Hengelo, has worked together since 2018 under the name 'OostLAB.' Their shared mission is to sustainably connect education and research with real societal challenges in areas such as energy transition, circular economy, and healthcare innovation.

This approach is embedded in curricula and aims to expand regionally, even across the border to Münster, Germany. The collaboration emphasizes a practical and adaptive mindset with strong attention to learning, knowledge exchange, and impact monitoring through research.

This marks the fourth and final phase of the long-term partnership between ROC, AKI, Saxion, UT, and the city of Enschede. The city of Hengelo recently joined. DesignLab has been leading coordination of the EnschedeLab initiative since its inception in 2017.
